Programme Notes

唐代詩人劉禹錫在《烏衣巷》中,以燕子年復年的來去,描寫曾經繁盛的烏衣巷及朱雀橋,今日悲涼滄桑之景。樂曲一開始,女聲以小調的長樂句詠唱出朱雀橋的荒涼,然後男聲逐漸加入,概嘆當地遍地野草。樂曲中段緬懷舊日謝家豪門,如今已不復再。最後以燕子的往返,如旁觀者一般的觀察,反思人生如夢的境況。

Tang Dynasty’s poet Liu Yuxi’s “Wuyixiang” portrays a desolate scene through the eyes of a swallow. This work uses human voices to chant and lament for the forsaken land.
