《春賦》Ode to Birth (2014)
For piano and symphonic band Commissioned by Belilios Winds Premiered by Belilios Winds in Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall on 28 September, 2014. Programme Notes 適逢庇理羅士女子中學管樂團成立三十週年，樂團指揮譚香盈小姐希望我創作一首管樂跟鋼琴獨奏的作品，主題是「春」。得知將會由鋼琴家羅乃新女士首演後，我便開始構思如何把作品變得更個人化，更適合羅氏演奏。我與羅乃新女士於機緣巧合下在監獄探訪時認識，當時我們所探訪的對象，是赤柱監獄內一群被關了十多二十年的終身監禁者。他們每一個都在年輕時犯下過錯，繼而斷送了自己的下半生。在探訪的過程中，我感覺到他們都對自己的過往有所悔咎，然後在監獄中重新找到對生命的熱誠。《春賦》所表達的，正正是這一種感覺。樂曲以低音號獨奏開始，以緩慢的小調描繪冬天最孤寂、最寒冷的日子。然後樂曲逐漸變得激烈，就如萬物都甦醒過來，從最壞的時刻慢慢好起來。樂曲最後以溫暖的和弦作結，寓意春天的來臨。

Programme Notes 《1830前序曲》創作於2012年，當時我開始從香港的人和事中尋找創作靈感。《1830》這組數字，並不是如柴可夫斯基的《1812序曲》代表歷史上的一個年份，而是代表著每天下午六時半，當我打開電視時都會聽到的新聞報道前奏。我把新聞的英文字母「NEWS」的摩斯密碼放在音樂中，成為一個不斷重覆的主題。然後又把新聞報道的旋律予以改變，使它成為現在的樣式。…

For guzheng trio Commissioned by Fourth Phase Zheng Club (Taiwan) Premiered by Fourth Phase Zheng Club in Recital Hall, National Theatre, Taiwan on 17 May, 2014. Programme Notes 誠蒙四象箏樂團為台北建城130週年委約創作一首為三把古箏的新曲，我特意於去年年底到台北跨年，順道感受台北的風土人情與節日氣氛。此曲描繪在台北一天的日與夜，從早上人流稀疏的街道，慢慢延伸至下午川流不息的人群，同時體驗台北簡樸與繁華的風貌。
